Narrative
This campaign was developed based on the alarming issue of lack of mental wellbeing discussion between the pre-schools and their parents.
There are two significant tactics of the campaign. The first one aims to raise awareness for the parents to understand the importance of engaging pre-school boys and girls in conversations about their feelings and mental health much earlier, through a series of Bus Tours discussions. The second tactic aims to ensure an appropriate and suitable approach towards the pre-schools in order to naturally and organically encourage them to open up discussions about their feelings through a collection of ten bedtime story books. [9] [10] [11]
The Bus Tours discussions will be brought up by Brad McEwan, a famous Australian TV presenter who has been an ambassador for beyondblue since 2010; he experienced and understood the impact of mental illness twenty years ago, when both his brother and father committed suicide due to mental illness, so he is committed to breaking down the barriers and addressing the stigma still attached to depression and anxiety. Assignment Description: For this scenario, you are communicating on behalf of Beyond Blue. Tremendous improvements have been made in national awareness and support for mental health in the past decade, including breaking down barriers for talking about mental health. However, Beyond Blue is concerned that much more needs to be done to encourage young males in discussions about mental health. This is based on the fact that 1 in 5 men are expected to experience anxiety and 1 in 8 expected to have depression at some stage of their lives. You have been approached to work with Beyond Blue in developing a national conversation about the need to engage pre-school boys and girls in conversations about their feelings and mental health much earlier. Your role is to develop and execute a mainstream media strategy to attempt to build a national agenda focused on engaging pre-school boys and girls in conversations about their feelings and mental health much earlier.
